Website editing guide

This repository is organized so that almost all future website edits happen in a small set of source files.

Add or edit a publication

  • Folder: _publications/
  • Start by copying _publications/_template.md.
  • Name the copy YYYY-MM-DD-paper-slug.md, for example 2026-05-01-my-paper.md.
  • Edit its front matter and the Markdown sections below it.
  • Newer date values appear first automatically on the Publications page and the home-page publication list.
  • Store figures for a paper in images/publications/paper-slug/.

Edit site information

  • _data/settings.yml — name, bio, navigation links, social links, hero copy, and Formspree contact endpoint.
  • _data/design.yml — colors, default theme, spacing, glass navigation, hero sizing, card styling, and contact form width.
  • _pages/ — standalone pages such as About and Contact.
  • _works/ — career entries.
  • _owns/ — technical project entries.

Edit page designs

  • _layouts/ — reusable page structures.
  • _includes/ — reusable page sections, including section-publications.html.
  • _sass/5-overrides/_research-studio.scss — the Apple Research Studio visual system.

Files you normally do not edit

  • _site/ is generated website output.
  • vendor/ contains Ruby/Jekyll dependencies.
  • Gemfile and _config.yml only need changes when altering build behavior or collection routes.
